Todd and I were cleaning out our basement the other day and attempting to organize it and I came across a bridal shower gift (well double gift...I received 2). It is one of my favorite gifts that I don't think I realized just how handy it would be and how much I would actually use it. It is a heirloom cookbook...meaning...it is a blank cookbook that you fill with all of your favorite recipes that you have gotten from your friends and family. My Aunt gave it to me at my family shower and had everyone in the family write down a recipe for me (Thanks cousin Paul for a frozen pizza recipe!). I love it because I only put in my favorites so I know it is always a "go-to-no-fail" cookbook.
There are several Index pages so there is room for PLENTY of yummy recipes!
Keeping organized with the Index and Tabs!
Mmmmm....Mamaw's Chalupas (This is our Christmas meal at their house...we even have some leftover in the freezer for later...yum!)
AND GUESS WHAT????? I have an extra one (remember I said I was double-gifted) that is still in the plastic wrap.
Therefore I am going to have a GIVEAWAY!!!
Here is how you can enter:
-Become a follower of this blog (if you aren't already) and leave a comment
(Fun question - Tell us the name of the first recipe you would put in your book.)
Extra Entries:
-Tweet about this post.
-Put a link to this post/blog in your blog.
Giveaway Closes:
Saturday, January 1, 2010
*The winner will be chosen using random.org and I will email you to let you know! Good luck!!!

Oh! I think i would do well with one of those. All my go-to recipes are on scraps of paper tucked into a crummy old folder. I would put my mom's apple pie and perfect pie crust recipe in the book right away!
ReplyDeleteThat's such a fun idea for a cookbook! I love it!! I think my first recipe would be my Chicken Italiano which I'm getting ready to throw in the crock-pot for dinner tonight! :) It's one of my favorites!
ReplyDeleteoh man, I think I'd call mine 'Carissa's signature pizza' which would look quite similar to your cousins frozen pizza recipe hehe I can't cook. I bake cookies tho!
ReplyDeleteOh wow, how cool! :) I love this idea!!!
ReplyDeleteMy first recipe would probably be for my fiance's mother's cheeseball. It is the hit of every holiday gathering!!!

ReplyDeleteWhat a great giveaway! I love to cook and know this little addition would be perfect for me. I'd probably put my eggplant lasagna recipe in there.

How awesome! You should see one of my cabinets - it's overflowing with recipes that need a good home to be written in. I am in dire need of one of these!
ReplyDeleteI found your blog through another one - and now a follower (not just b/c of the giveaway, i might add!). I guess it's my lucky day to stumble on this!
The first recipe I'd add would be yellow rice. A good friend taught me how to make authenic spanish yellow rice and since my hubby is spanish, it's a great go-to recipe. But I usually forget an igredient or two when I'm trying to think of everything I need!

ReplyDeletegreat giveaway. I'm a vegetarian and always on the hunt for good veggie recipies. The first thing I would write in the book would be my vegetarian lasagne. It feels a bit like a cop out as it's quite easy, but it's my favourite dinner and it's a vegetaRIAN lasagne rather than a vegetaBLE one (which meat eaters often make for veggie friends)
ReplyDeleteSo, so fun. I think the first recipe I'd have to add to the book would be Nana's pumpkin bread (I just had it on my blog before Thanksgiving.) It is a most coveted holiday treat that MUST stay in my family!
ReplyDeleteLove this! My mom has one of these filled with family recipes! It's great!
ReplyDeletebtw thanks for stopping by and following my blog! following you too!

Sweet blog! MaMaw's recipe? If you say it like Maw-Maw, you must be from the south! lol Cute post.
ReplyDeleteMy recipe would have to be my famous sweet and sour turkey meatballs!
Happy Holidays! ;) RK
