Note - Sorry for the poor picture quality! I am trying to learn to take better pictures with my phone...I am obviously still not quite there yet!
Is anyone else tired of the winter weather drying out your skin? It seems like no matter how much lotion and cream I put on, I can't keep up with this dry skin. I used to work at Bath and Body Works through college and I remember someone saying that putting lotion on dry skin is like putting lotion on sandpaper...it won't be absorbed if your skin isn't dry skin-free first. I think that makes sense ha!
So on my snow day...I couldn't go out to get a scrub...so I made one with what I could find in my house. Check it out...
Supplies:
-sugar
-olive oil
-essential oil...for smell (I chose one of my favorites...Eucalyptus Spearmint - Bath and Body Works)
-jar
-soap (I like to use a few squirts of soap...but you don't have to...I like to for smell and a little bit of suds...I used Tranquil Mint - Bath and Body Works)
Directions:
1. Fill jar up a little under halfway with olive oil.
2. Add a few scoops of sugar ( I think I did about 2 and a half)
3. Add a few drops of your favorite essential oil.
4. Add about 8 squirts of your favorite soap.
5. Stir.
*You may have to add more sugar to get the right consistency...you be the judge.
Another option is to use Sea Salt instead of sugar. I like sugar because I have found that salt scrubs tend to sting a little bit if I have any small cuts.
And here ya go...the finished product! Be sure to place it somewhere in your shower where it won't get water in it. Also keep something nearby to give it a stir right before you use it because it will separate. Hope you enjoy a good scrub!
I love to follow up my shower by mixing my favorite lotion/cream with a few squirts of Baby Oil Gel. I think it makes a much better moisturizer.
Happy Wednesday!
